Standards and Regulations
Romana Pharmacy is fully licensed and accredited by the Ontario College of Pharmacists ("OCP"). It has been established and operates according to the Drug and Pharmacy Regulation Act (DPRA), Pharmacy Act (PA), Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Narcotics Safety and Awareness Act (NSAA), Ontario Drug Benefit Act (ODRA) and the Drug Interchangeability & Dispensing Fee Act (DIDFA). All pharmaceutical services are provided in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act (LTCH Act, 2007), provincial standards of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), the Retirement Homes Act (2010) and Accreditation Canada's Medication Management Standards.
Romana Pharmacy is fully compliant with the regulations from the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). All Pharmacists employed or contracted by Romana Pharmacy are licensed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists and participate in the Continuous Education Program of the College. Pharmacists and Consultants carry liability insurance and adhere to the Guidelines for the Practice of Pharmacy of the Council of the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Standards of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities. All prescriptions are filled in compliance to the relevant legal requirements.
Romana Pharmacy operates in accordance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). All personal information is held in strict confidence and stored under a high degree of security.
Romana Pharmacy employs extensive prescription checking procedure. All medication orders are subject to multiple checks throughout the dispensing process. All orders are hand checked for accuracy by a pharmacist before being delivered. We process all multi-dose orders in a separate manner from the non-multi-dose orders to provide further quality control.
